It’s funny how time slips away — andWillie Nelsoncontinues to surprise fans with new music.
On Thursday, the country music starannounced the releaseof his 75th studio album,The Border,on May 31.
In light of the exciting announcement, Nelson, 90, also shared the first single and title track on the album, which is a cover of Rodney Cowell’s 2019 song from his albumTexas.
The Borderwill follow Nelson’s recent EPBluegrass, which dropped in September 2023.
This summer, the “Riders in the Sky” singer will be on the road again for his annual Outlaw Music Festival Tour withFamily band,Bob Dylan,Robert Plant & Allison KrauseandJohn Mellencamp.
On select shows, country starBrittney Spencer, soul singerCelisseand five-piece Memphis bandSouthern Avenue, as well as Bluegrass artistBilly Stringswill join the festival.
This year’s Outlaw Music Festival kicks off on June 21 in Alpharetta, Georgia, and continues throughout the summer before wrapping up on Sept. 17 in Buffalo, New York.

“This year’s Outlaw Music Festival Tour promises to be the biggest and best yet with this lineup of legendary artists. I am thrilled to get back on the road again with my family and friends playing the music we love for the fans we love," the Rock and Roll Hall of Famer said in a press release.
Last April, Nelsoncelebrated his milestone 90th birthday, he opened up to PEOPLE about his commitment to staying out on the road.
“I get a lot of fun out of playing for an audience,” he said. “There’s a great energy exchange there. It’s what keeps me going.”
