Aside from the film, Meghan, 37, is best known for portraying the role of paralegal Rachel Zane on USA’sSuits.

However, after her engagement to Harry, 34, was announced, Meghan — an original cast member of the show since its premiere in June 2011 — confirmed that she would no longer be acting.

“I don’t see it as giving anything up. I just see it as a change,” she said in her first joint interview with Harry in November 2017.

“It’s a new chapter, right? And also, keep in mind, I’ve been working on [Suits] for seven years. We were very, very fortunate to have that sort of longevity on a series,” she explained, adding, “I’ve ticked this box, and I feel very proud of the work I’ve done there, and now it’s time to work with [Harry] as a team.”

Though she hasn’t been able to keep up with acting since then, things may change soon for Meghan, who recentlyannounced the new patronagesshe’ll be supporting in her royal work, including one with theNational Theatre.

With her new royal role — handed down fromQueen Elizabeth— Meghan could land back in show business, according to leading royal historian Robert Lacey, who believes her patronage of the theater presents fascinating opportunities for the formerSuitsstar.

It “is a canny and shrewd [assignment] on the Queen’s part,” Lacey, a consultant for the Netflix smashThe Crown, told PEOPLE.“If Meghan is ever missing the excitement of acting, this will put her back in touch with show business in a very creative way. It is tailor-made for her and she will throw herself into it.”

The Duchess Of Sussex Visits The National Theatre

Lacey said he believes theroyal mom-to-bemight even take an active part at some point: “I can see her getting involved with productions or even directing something.”

As for her return to acting? “It’s not out of the question that we’d see a member of the royal family performing on the stage of the National Theatre one day,” he said.

The National Theatre is a gritty space on the previously-unfashionable South Bank of the River Thames. “The National Theatre has quite a radical record of tackling the difficult social issues of the moment and for innovating new plays and productions — so that might be an area where she might add her influence,” Lacey added.
