Evangelista has worked with Karan and the brand numerous times during her career, and as she flipped through some of her photo shoots and moments on the runway with the designer, she couldn’t help but be emotional about her work with her.
“I remember the pep talks before the fashion shows,” she shares. “The backstage felt more personal. She would try to instill this confidence in us, but once you were wearing her clothes, you didn’t need it. Donna’s been part of the milestone moments that I’ve had.”

“Donna does represent both strength and sensuality,” Evangelista adds. “Donna Karan really stood the test of time.”
“She introduced a new style of power dressing, which celebrated women and their bodies. That was her sweet spot, and it still is,” Crawford added in a press release.

Called “In Women We Trust,” the campaign blends archive pieces with the modern — bringing the history of Donna Karan New York to now. It also showcases the silhouettes, pieces and craftsmanship that Karan herself has become known for. Donna Karan New York is a brand designed for the everywoman.
“It’s not about the clothes, it’s always been about the woman in the clothes,” Valletta gushed in a press release of her love of Karan and the label.

Karan launched her first collection with her namesake label in 1985 and became known for her “7 Easy Pieces,” — a bodysuit, a tailored jacket, a skirt, pants, a cashmere sweater, a leather jacket and an evening look. AKA, the original capsule wardrobe.
For decades, she has maintained her ethos of providing women with beautiful wardrobe staples that stand the test of time. The label’s relaunch for spring 2024 reminds fashion-lovers that the heritage brand is here to stay.
