As part ofAmerican Idol’sDisney-themed night,Lea Michele, who will star as Ariel in next month’sliveThe Little Mermaidconcert, made a guest appearance to sing a snippet of the beloved song “Part of Your World.”

Ahead of Sunday night’s show, Micheleteased the performance, sharing a photograph on Instagram of herself backstage at the ABC singing competition.
“Tune in to @americanidol tonight! ✨ Singing something very special! 🧜♀️ #americanidol #disneynight,” she wrote alongside the image.
The elaborate costume was complete with protruding octopus tentacles, an exaggerated gray mohawk wig, as well as a purple long-sleeve shirt and matching face paint, which gave the singer Ursula’s signature skin color.

Earlier this month it was announced that in honor of the 30th anniversary ofThe Little Mermaid, The Hollywood Bowl is bringing back a live production of the classic Disney film for two days.

The cast and orchestra will be performing all of the favorite songs from the Oscar and Grammy-winning soundtrack, including: “Kiss the Girl,” “Under the Sea,” “Part of Your World,” and “Poor Unfortunate Souls.”
Making the night extra special, the Bowl plans to transform into the Hollywood Fish Bowl Dive-In Theater, which will immerse the audience under the sea with animated “living scenery” that director and co-producer Richard Kraft called a “game changer,” and a full program of aquatic-themed previews highlighting future attractions and old snack bar commercials.
The performance takes place May 17 and 18 at the Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles.
