Pickler and Jacobs began dating in 2008 andwed in a surprise ceremonythree years later.

TheAmerican Idolalumshared a statement with PEOPLEfollowing her husband’s death in February.

“One of the most beautiful lessons my husband taught me was in a moment of crisis, if you don’t know what to do, ‘do nothing, just be still,'" she said. “I have chosen to heed his advice.”

“Thank you to my family, friends, and supporters, for the countless letters, calls, and messages that you have sent my way,” the radio host continued. “It has truly touched my soul and it’s helping me get through the darkest time in my life. As many of you have told me, you are all in my prayers.”

She added that an intimate memorial service was being planned for Jacobs in the fall as “that is what Kyle would have wanted.” Later in September,a “Celebration of Life” servicewas held at Franklin First UMC in Franklin, Tennessee, in whichhundreds of peoplegathered to pay their respects to the late musician.
