Police in Texas are investigating after a 28-year-old investment banker died earlier this week, according to a report.

McIntosh was an investment banker at Jefferies Financial Group’s Dallas office, perBusiness Insider. The investment bank confirmed the employee’s death in a memo to staff on Tuesday, Jan. 28, according toBloomberg.

The late banker’sLinkedInpage states that he started working at Jefferies in September 2023 as an investment banking associate.Business Insiderreported that McIntosh worked on the team covering technology, media and telecommunications companies.

A Dallas Police Department spokesperson told PEOPLE of McIntosh’s death in an email, “Based on the date, approximate time, and location, this incident is being investigated as an unexplained death.”

“It is not our practice to identify or confirm victim information,” they added.

Jefferies CEO, Richard Handler, and the company’s president, Brian Friedman, said in a memo to staff on Tuesday, “It is with tremendous sadness that we report we learned yesterday that Carter McIntosh, one of our talented associates in Dallas, has passed away. Our most sincere condolences go out to his family, friends, and colleagues,” perBusiness Insider.

“We are in touch with Carter’s family, who know we stand ready to support them in any way we can. Our thoughts and prayers are with them, and we hope that Carter’s memory is a blessing to them during this very sad time,” the message continued, per the outlet.

Before working at Jefferies, McIntosh was an investment banking analyst at Moelis & Company from April 2021 until June 2023, while he also worked in New York as an equity research analyst for Goldman Sachs from January 2020 until April 2021, per his LinkedIn page.
