The world is a really large post , and throughout human history , we ’ve build and then lost a whole bunch of major cities .
Over on the Mental Floss YouTube channel , John Green assembled a list and a bit of background on 25 city from around the world that have been lost . Most have been find by IE and archaeologist , but a handful are still somewhere out there .
This serves as a really sound reminder that Western civilization certainly did n’t have a monopoly on major city : a couple of Mayan metropolis dwarfed cities such as London or Paris by a immense amount , or cover hundreds of square land mile .
