H.G. Wells gave us many of our most dear skill fiction conceits — but did he also anticipate how war would develop in the era of aeroplane and advanced weaponry ? And were his predictions more prescient than some of the Pentagon ’s attempts to prognosticate the changing nature of war have been ?
That ’s the conclusion reached by Micah Zenko , a fellow at the Council on Foreign Relations , inan clause posted over at the Atlantic Monthly . Zenko runs down many of Wells ’ predictions for the future of state of war , let in more intricate types of rifles , and bomber planes . Unfortunately , not all of Wells ’ predictions were on the money — he predicted that citizens would all do in the armed services , and that civilian casualties would be low .
