Years ago , rumor had it that David Cronenberg was remaking his insect body - splicing movie The Fly for Fox . Turns out we were misled : it was n’t a remaking , it ’s a sequel . And Cronenberg ’s already written the screenplay . So what ’s the hold - up ?
In an audience withSTYD , Cronenberg revealed that it ’s all up to the studio :
“ The Fly is not exactly a remake , it ’s sort of a subsequence , kinda . Yeah , that was a thing . I ’ve written a script of that , and I do n’t cognise if that ’s going to really happen , but that has to do with Fox . ”
We ’re pretty shocked that the sequel- and remake - obsessed movie industry would pass on an already - written Cronenberg horror book . Here ’s hoping the collective furor of the internet gets this project on the dissolute - track .
