Many of the characters that appear inFuriosa : A Mad Max Sagawe’ve run into before : Furiosa , of course . Immortal Joe . The War Boys . But one of the raw additions , Chris Hemsworth ’s Dementus , is not only mad and exciting , he changed throughout the filmmaking appendage .
io9spoke to Hemsworth recentlyabout the film and , since the intact playscript for Furiosa is backstory for the title character , we askedwhat backstory George Millerprovided him for Dementus . It grow out , not as much as you ’d think . “ He had a lot of ideas , but the beauty of filmmaking is how you set about off with one expectation and you end up in a very different position , ” Hemsworth said . “ I think for both of us , the character develop in a really satisfying fashion . ”
One example the Thor wizard gave was the fact Dementus hold around a small teddy bear with him . At first , it was just part of the eldritch , creepy , Wasteland costumes create for the series but then it became more . “ The teddy bear , for instance , did n’t necessarily concord much time value in the script but then became sort of a totem and it became a representation of his yesteryear and something that he passed on , ” Hemsworth said .

“ The constitutional nature and growth of characters , it does n’t always happen like that , ” he continued . “ But I recover it satisfying because of the collaborationism with Anya [ Taylor - Joy ] and I. Even from dry run , she would say thing and do thing that would make me consider otherwise about how my public presentation was going to go . And then the culmination of the final scene in the movie was quite different than it was on the Sir Frederick Handley Page due to the discussion we were consume back and away . And so , I entail , that ’s the joy of it . You want to be surprised each time and we were . ”
We cerebrate you ’ll also be surprised when you see where Dementus came from , what he want , and peculiarly where he ends up in Furiosa : A Mad Max Saga , which is now in theaters .
