AsAgatha All Alongprepares to drop its 5th installment — out of nine total — fans now have a growing sense of how the show accommodate into the Marvel Cinematic Universe . And , well , it ’s pretty much been a standalone so far , aside from a few steer atMephisto - neighboring traditional knowledge . That ’s just hunky-dory withAgatha All Alongcreator Jac Schaeffer , who knows a affair or two about being intertwined with the MCU , having also createdAgatha‘s predecessorWandaVision .
Speaking tothe Hollywood Reporter , Schaeffer — who also co - wroteBlack Widow , which had many tendrils linked into other Marvel properties — sounded a bit eased to be work in a relatively autonomous air hole of the MCU . “ Agatha has n’t appeared in any of the features [ so we ] did n’t have the essence of retrofitting any canyon , ” she say . “ OnWandaVision , both Paul [ Bettany ] and Lizzie [ Elizabeth Olsen ] had so much backstory in themselves and between each other . So their moments of romanticism in the films are so petite , but they meant so much to those two performers . So we wanted to underscore those moment and fill them out more . ”
She continued . “ We also had the orotund Scarlet Witch burden of the Infinity Stone and that kind of thing . Even withWandaVision , it was less about how it fits with succeeding properties . We had some of that , but it was more , ‘ How do we nestle this in what already live and both raise the story we ’re telling and buttress the stories that have come up before ? ’ It ’s heartbreaking to disavow or tear down what ’s already been found , and [ upholding the past account ] was part of our work there . So we did n’t have that oeuvre in as big of a way onAgatha All Alongbecause Agatha is her own bird . ”

However , Schaeffer also recognise that being part of a much great picture can actually be helpful in its own way . “ Most writer have an tremendous imagination , and when something can be anything , that can be frighten off , ” she tell . “ So when you ’re like , ‘ It can only be this thing , but do it well , ’ I find that kind of release . When we were first wait at the Witches ’ Road and how we were going to design it , a lot of what ’s in the comics was n’t material that we could or wanted to use . But then it felt wide unresolved , so I found the initial brainstorming on the road almost too blue sky . ”
as luck would have it , Agatha All Along‘s squad found a way to get direction to that wide downhearted sky — let in giving each stop along the Witches ’ Road so far its own style esthetical — that makes the show feel aimed at both Marvel fansandpeople intrigued by Kathryn Hahn ’s spellbinding functioning and character . Unfortunately , however , Schaeffer ’s dedication toAgathameans she wo n’t have a direct hired hand in the next serial spawned from her original creation : the Bettany - starringVision Quest .
“ It was with a very dense warmheartedness that I realized that [ work onVision Quest ] logistically would n’t work for me , ” she said . “ But I am so looking forward to that show . I am just an tremendous cheerleader for everybody demand , especially Paul . ”
